History of Our Chapter

Sacajawea Chapter NSDAR was organized by thirteen Olympia women on November 17, 1905. On December 5, 1906, a charter was granted to the chapter by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). The founders chose the name Sacajawea to honor the courageous Shoshone Indian woman who guided the Lewis and Clark Expedition to the Pacific Ocean.
